Governance, Financial & Annual Reports

the Chair of Governors

Dear Parents/Carers

I am delighted and honoured to have been elected Chair of Governors at Heston Community School.

My association with Heston goes back many years. Before joining the Board of Trustees in 2017, I had the privilege of being a member of the School’s Leadership Team. As a result, I know the School extremely well and have seen at first hand the commitment, hard work and care that have helped make Heston the school it is today.

Having remained closely involved with the School as a Governor for the past nine years, I am very pleased to have the opportunity to continue that relationship as Chair. Heston has always been a school with a strong sense of community and a determination to provide the very best opportunities for its students, both academically and in their wider development.

The role of the Governing Body is to support and challenge the School’s leadership, to help set its strategic direction and to ensure that the interests and wellbeing of our students remain at the heart of everything we do. As Chair, I look forward to working closely with my fellow Governors, the Headteacher and the Leadership Team, as well as our dedicated staff, students, parents and the wider school community.

Schools never stand still and there will always be new opportunities and challenges ahead. I am confident that Heston is well-placed to meet them, while continuing to build on its many strengths and achievements.

It is a great privilege to take on this role at a school that has meant so much to me over the years. I look forward to playing my part in the next chapter of Heston Community School and to helping ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive and achieve their full potential.

I would invite any parent to visit the School, see the outstanding learning environment and meet our wonderful students.

Glynis Ross-Wood
