  • Year 8 Football Team

    Published 28/04/23

Huge congratulations to the Year 8 football team for making it all the way to the Semi-Finals. All those involved did the school proud in their unbeaten run, finishing top in the group stages. Unfortunately, we did not progress beyond the Semi-finals as we lost 3-2 against Isleworth & Syon.

"We came into th game against Isleworth and Syon with only one thing in mind for this semi-final, and that was simply winning! We came so far, so losing was not an option. We put up a strong battle however they were the better team at the end of the day. Even though we lost 3-2, we played till the final whistle. Next year we go again". Michal Oterski [8G]

"The football match against Isleworth and Syon ended in a 3:2 loss. It was a very tough match. Both teams fighting as had as they could to get to the finals. We played well but in the end they were the better team. We tried our best and did give it our all. Even though we lost, we went so far beating lots of schools to reach the semi-finals, and we will improve next year". Thiveesh Kageenthirarasa [8G]

  • Personal Training At Heston

    Published 25/04/23

Heston Community School feels extremely grateful to Nuffield Health this term. Every Monday after school, 3 or 4 Nuffield Health Personal Trainers come and work on fitness with some of our Year 9 and 11 students.

Students take part in some individual fitness activities and some team-building competitions.

They all feel invigorated by the sessions and have amazed themselves by adapting to new challenges. “It is exhausting, but definitely benefits the brain as well as the body, so I think it is helpful it in the run-up to the exams.” says Kilian V, Year 11

”I have really pushed myself”. His fellow Year 11 Caleb says, “They have given us a really good workout that includes strength, stamina and speed.” Logan M, Year 11

“It was difficult but fun.” Kiran G, Year 11and her friend Taran B, Year 11, says, “I feel de-stressed and ready to revise!”

Many of the Year 11s said they would now aim to try some of the exercises at home as part of their own self-care.

Bettina Keki, one of the Personal Trainers, explains “We hope to also offer some sessions during half-term and the Summer, so students can maintain their fitness.”

As a school, we want every student to benefit from taking part in Enrichment activities. Enrichment activities are any kind of club or experience like a trip which add value to a student’s school experience, skills, talents, knowledge or well-being. We look forward to continuing our link with Nuffield Health and hope to have news about holiday sessions soon so that students can really grow in confidence and strength.

  • The Woman King Cinema Trip

    Published 18/04/23

On the 23rd March, we went to watch ‘The Woman King’.

Female, African warriors come together to protect their kingdom from a foreign enemy. These noble warriors put their life on the line to fight for what they believe in and what is right. Their morals and priorities showcase the selfless, devoted human beings they are, sending the audience a message that you are your own person and you have a right to an opinion. Events like these illustrate the hard work, effort and independence people have done to change the world for better.

I found it very inspirational because it contained a lot of female empowerment messages, along with a range of representations of race and gender. It showcased girls as strong and powerful.
