Three Heston Community School students helped London to second place in the U13 Girls Basketball Regional Development Tournament held at Lilleshall.

Kimran Sangha, Ayun Hussein and Bethany Mann (pictured left), from Years 8 and 9 at Heston, were selected in the twelve strong squad to represent London. Following three wins in group matches and  a semi-final victory against East (42-30) a weary squad succumbed to North-West (49-30) in the final. The tournament, which is used in the selection process for the England U15 Development squad, produced some excellent basketball.

Heston Community School has an impressive history in Girls Basketball, boasting a seven year unbeaten record in the borough, and were runners-up in the London Schools Basketball Tournament in April 2012. The three London players and a number of other Heston students also play National League basketball for Hounslow Hawks, based at Heston Community School.

Stefan McGarrell, Head of PE at Heston and Head Coach of Hounslow Hawks, said: "I am really proud of the girls, they have worked very hard to reach the level they are at and I hope they will continue their progress. This experience will be invaluable."
