Policy League

"Articulate and creative" Year 12 students impress at City University

 Heston students in action

On 7th July, a group of Year 12 students who have been part of the Policy League programme took part in the final competition against Hornsey School for Girls at City University. Policy League is a programme created by The Economist to develop student skills of collaboration, negotiation and leadership. Students have developed a huge amount from the programme, not only understanding current world events better, but also the importance of a solutions-focused debate – we can only wish for the rest of our country could have the same approach about the EU referendum!

Heston students with Ms KaurThe competition day was held at City University and students took part in negotiating policy on the problems of gentrification in London. The panel of judges were blown away by our articulate and creative students, stating that their ‘ideas are as advanced as the architecture students I teach’. Heston is proud of all that our Year 12 students have achieved this year and look forward to them creating further policy solutions next year.
