Griffin Brewery visit for BTEC Applied Science students

Year 12 BTEC Applied Science Students recently enjoyed tours of the Griffin Brewery in Chiswick.  As part of their course they learn about commercial uses of fermentation and it was great for them to experience this first hand.  The brewing manager talked students through the scientific processes involved and they were able to look inside the ‘mash tanks’ and fermentation vessels to see this in action.  They smelled and tasted some of the raw materials (barley, hops and yeast) and enjoyed hearing about the history of the brewery, which has been on the site since 1845.
