Celebration Evening 2017 took place in the School Hall on Tuesday, 11 July at 19:00. Despite the heavy rain, the turnout was excellent and, judging by the comments below, thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
Mr O’Hagan proved to be an entertaining host, ably assisted by Mr Sam Saib whose efficiency ensured all prize-winners received the correct certificates. The Heston dancers won the hearts of the audience with their enthusiasm and energy.
It was, however, the account of our guest speaker, ex-student, Dr Arsalan Wafi, that had the greatest impact. From the opening sentence, “I was born in Kabul”, parents and students were enthralled by the account of his journey: finishing A Levels at Heston, going to Cambridge to read Medicine and, now, studying to become a surgeon.
Below are some of the comments on the evening:
“An amazing evening celebrating both past and present achievements that shows the way Heston truly supports and celebrates its students” - Parent
“A truly inspirational evening celebrating all the personal and academic achievements of the talented students of Heston Community School” - Parent
“Very proud mum to have her son’s future moulded in this school” - Parent

Twelve-year nine students from Heston Community School took part in a Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) challenge. There were over 100 students from various London schools taking part in four different challenges.
17 girls from Year 7 and Year 8 took part in Dance West's Ignition Dance Festival on Saturday 03 June at The Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith. After being selected from over 60 applications and weeks of preparation, they performed a contemporary dance titled 'Lost in Sleep' which received high praise from the audience and festival organisers. HDA performed alongside other Youth Companies from Rambert, Arts Ed and Laban and had a fantastic day performing and watching other inspirational dances.
Thank you to Miss Smythe for organising this event.
On Wednesday 24th May the Year 10 GCSE Drama students attended a performance at the Donmar Warehouse of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui. The class enjoyed the production greatly. They were also very lucky to have had an acting workshop based on the play. This was delivered in school by the Donmar Warehouse earlier in the month.
Pawaan Purba was a student here at Heston along with all her siblings.
Pawaan would have celebrated her 21st Birthday this week, but sadly on August 27th 2016 Pawaan contracted Meningitis and past away very suddenly, leaving her family devastated.

On Sunday 23rd April 2017, Martin Hunt (pictured) ran the London Marathon with an impressive time of 4 hours 42 minutes. Martin wrote to us a while ago and asked if we could help with fundraising for his chosen charity, the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. His dad was part of the site team here at Heston for many years but was sadly diagnosed with lung cancer. Martin’s mum is also a member of staff at here. With the generosity of staff and students we were able to raise £775.15 through Mufti Day.
Happy Birthday, William Shakespeare!
On behalf of the Governing Body, I am pleased to announce that Mr Ranjit Berdesha, currently Acting Headteacher at Heston Community School, has been appointed as the school’s permanent Headteacher.

We had a brilliant day at the college! We started the day off by arriving at the college and attending a lecture that introduced us to anaesthesia. Many anaesthetists across the country took parts in giving the lecture, they stated what their jobs were and talked thoroughly about their journey of how they specialised.
