Prevent Assembly

The assembly, overall, was very interesting and engaging, with multiple chances for students to discuss what they thought with one another and being able to then share these thoughts with the entire year group. It was great to see everyone getting involved and being eager to discuss and share their ideas, especially on such an important topic as radicalisation and terrorism. With antisocial behaviour becoming increasingly common and violent these days, I think it is crucial for students to be aware of such things and how they themselves or those around them could potentially end up in the trap of becoming radicalised. It was also great to see certain misconceptions being addressed, such as what terrorism is, as it is an often misunderstood or racially abused term. I think that David Chadwick – 'The Prevent Guy' presented a brilliant assembly, and I do think that it has helped bring awareness around the topic. ID [10B]

I really liked how he explained what his job was, as I found it quite interesting how he showed what he did with people in prison to make sure they are ready to re-enter society again. I also liked how he explained the different cases he has worked with which interest me. It also gave me some awareness of what could lead people to commit these sorts of crimes. HB [10P]
