Word of the Week

Word of the Week launched with RESILIENCE

WOTW ResilienceIn our efforts to continue to develop students’ literacy we are launching ‘Word of the Week’.

The ‘Word of the Week’ will be displayed in classrooms and around the school and will be used throughout lessons in order to ensure students are developing their vocabulary. Literacy achievement points can now be awarded to students for the correct usage of these words in all lessons.

The ‘Word of the Week’ for the week commencing 2nd November is: Resilience.

Resilience:

1.  The ability to recover quickly from difficult tasks or situations.

Examples:

I am a resilient learner because I do not let difficult activities or tasks put me off of trying again.

I displayed resilience in my PE lesson, I kept trying to complete an activity that I found difficult.

2.  The power or ability to return to the original form or position after being compressed or stretched.

Example:

Polypropylene is being used more and more widely in the manufacture of carpets due to its high resilience to wear and staining.
