King's College visit for Year 11 & 12

Students learn about science courses and get advice on applications

Students in Life Sciences MuseumOn Thursday 26th February, a group of Year 11 and 12 students were given the opportunity to visit Guys Campus at King’s College London. The ‘Explore Kings’ event was a science based day that not only allowed students to gain an insight into the lives of a university student, but also allowed students to have a taste of courses that are available Post-18.

Students at the King's Subjects Fair The day was split into 3 sections starting with a tour of the campus; this gave students a feel of the university itself. The tour also included a trip to King’s College’s life sciences museum that holds prized scientific proof of evolution within animals. Secondly, students attended a hands-on subject fair where students were able to speak with current King’s students studying medicine, dentistry, midwifery and nursing; this helped the students understand the requirements of getting into such well respected courses at universities. Finally students received a talk on what makes a competitive application, here the speaker presented different ways to stand out in your university application through UCAS.

Despite the weather all students were able to thoroughly enjoy the trip and take advantage of the brilliant experience that it was:

“We experienced an informative and enjoyable day. The campus is incredible and the facilities available for students are great. The advice for writing personal statements was by far the most beneficial” – Saina Kanwar Year 12

Students in the King's College Museum“We found the day genuinely inspiring and very helpful. It was a great opportunity to receive practical advice about university applications from a source that we wouldn't normally have access to.” - Amrit Ghatora and Meghna Pathak Year 11
