Our Ethos – The Character and Spirit of Heston Community School

The ethos of this School must be to foster good relationships between members of staff, students themselves and between members of staff and students. Bullying, harassment, victimisation and discrimination will not be tolerated. The School and its staff will act fairly in relation to students and parents/carers and we expect the same of students and parents/carers in relation to the School.

These actions define and determine our ethos:

  • Advancing the education and intellectual and moral development of our students whatever their capabilities, attributes and interests, enabling all our young people to achieve
  • Providing positive experiences for the whole School Community
  • Promoting positive relationships within a learning, caring and inclusive community
  • Promoting positive, healthy attitudes and behaviours
  • Securing the welfare and safety of our students as individuals and as members of a community
  • Conducting the School in a manner consistent with inclusive values and reflecting and celebrating diversity
  • Sharing the best of what we do by supporting learning in partner schools and enabling them to use our facilities as appropriate
  • Fostering open mindedness, thoughtfulness and growth mindset in our students and in our School as a whole
