The ‘Word of the Week’ for the week commencing 3rd May is: Inclination.

The ‘Word of the Week’ will be displayed in classrooms and around the school and will be used throughout lessons in order to ensure students are developing their vocabulary. Literacy achievement points can now be awarded to students for the correct usage of these words in all lessons.

Inclination:

1.    A person’s natural tendency or urge to act or feel in a particular way.

Much against his inclination, Hafid attended his detention promptly.

 WOTW - InclinationMr Lynn is inclined to go to the gym after work.

2.    The fact or degree of sloping.

There are visible changes in the inclination of the line on the graph.

Geometry:

  1. The angle between two lines or two planes.
  2. The angle formed by the x-axis and a given line.

Synonyms (meaning 1): predisposed, willing, apt.

Antonyms (meaning 1): disinclined, unwilling, unlikely.
