The School Day BREAK- AND LUNCH-TIME ARRANGEMENTS Parents wishing their child to go home for lunch must specifically request this in writing and supply a recent passport photograph of the child so that a Lunch Pass can be issued. Only students with this Pass may leave the School at lunchtime and the Pass (which is renewable on a termly basis) is issued on the clear understanding that this is to allow the named student to go home for lunch, nowhere else. It should not be necessary for students to pick up lunch from a shop on the way home and they should remain off-site throughout the lunch break. We operate a cashless catering system where students have their own swipe cards. Cheques or money can be registered on to the card. During break and lunch-time students may obtain a variety of meals and snacks from the cafeteria preferably, using their swipe card or, if necessary, with cash. Students entitled to a free school meal will also use a swipe card. Students may also bring their own packed lunch that must be eaten in the designated area. Food and drink may only be consumed in the Dining Area. Clear, still water is permitted in classrooms. We are a ‘Drink to Think' School. Teachers will advise students of this. We all benefit from drinking water and eating healthily. We actively discourage a ‘chips with everything' diet. Students on site have access to the Library, their Tutor Bases and to play areas. An established team of supervisors and senior staff supervises these areas.
