The Technology department offer the following subjects from KS3 to KS5 (Yr 7 to Yr 13) with specialised teachers available in each.

Electronic Products

This subject has been designed to encourage students to be able to design and make quality electronic products with creativity, originality and flair using a wide range of electronic components with appropriate materials to package the electronic circuit. Students will study the application of electronic circuitry in a variety of commercial and industrial products. They will develop an understanding of how electronic components work and can be combined to produce predetermined outputs. The course involves a large practical element in addition to the more theoretical aspects of the subject.

Food Technology
This subject has been developed to enable students to demonstrate their creativity when making food products, a vital feature of the student's experience of taking this subject. Design and making are encouraged so as to prepare students for taking higher level courses or for entering the world of work. This subject requires students to develop an understanding of industrial and commercial products, materials and components and product development.

Graphic Products
This subject has been designed to encourage students to be able to design and make products with creativity and originality, using a range of graphic and modelling materials. Students will be enthused and challenged by the range of practical activities possible. They will be encouraged to learn through images to use, understand and apply colour and design, to develop spatial concepts, and to understand graphic materials and their manipulation. They will design and make product(s) using a graphic media and new technologies to prepare them for the world of work.

Product Design

This specification has been designed to encourage students to be able to design and make products with creativity and originality, using a range of materials and techniques. Packaging, labelling and instructions are encouraged as part of the complete design proposal and advertising, points of sale, etc can be used to supplement the making experience and help create products which can be evaluated for their commercial viability.

Resistant Materials
This subject has been designed to encourage students to be able to design and make products with creativity and originality, using a range of materials and techniques. Students will be enthused and challenged by the range of practical activities possible. A working knowledge of woods, metals, plastics and composite materials will be required, but other materials may be used in addition. The use of new technologies is encouraged in this subject. In addition students will develop an understanding of how products are designed, developed and marketed.

Textiles
This subject has been developed to enable students to demonstrate their creativity when making textile products, a vital feature of the student's experience of taking this subject. Students will study a wide variety of textiles skills and materials used in the industrial and commercial worlds. The course provides opportunities to explore the creative, decorative and constructional aspects of the subject. Design and making are encouraged so as to prepare students for taking higher level courses or for entering the world of work.
