Dear Student

I am very pleased to offer you more information about our excellent Sixth Form and the range of courses and wider experiences that we offer our students.

Whether you are currently studying at Heston Community School or are a student at another school or college, making the right decision about where you should undertake the next stage of your learning will play a key part in determining your future success. Please read this prospectus carefully so that you are fully informed to make the right decision for you.

Heston is an extremely innovative and forward-thinking School in which to work. It is also a School which is constantly striving to improve all aspects of its practice and frequently we ask students for their opinions to help shape our future plans. In fact, Heston is well regarded for its emphasis on the importance of 'Student Leadership' in particular, encouraging young people to take greater responsibility for their own learning.

With a large Sixth Form, we are fortunate to be able to offer a wide range of courses from which to choose. We also provide a varied programme of Enrichment Activities to which our students can subscribe. We feel that these opportunities are vital in developing self-confidence, community awareness, leadership skills, self-esteem and softer 'Key Skills'. We know that University Admissions Tutors and employers are looking for more than academic success. They want young people who have a range of outside interests, who show initiative and enterprise, who are involved in voluntary and community activity and who get involved fully in school life.

The Sixth Form at Heston Community School is well regarded locally and nationally. It is designed to ensure high quality exam results, as well as providing additional opportunities for every student to gain the experiences and involvement to become confident, happy and well-rounded young adults, with genuine choice in choosing the next step. The Sixth Form provides a very good preparation for the next step, beyond school, through the teaching and tutoring of our very well qualified and experienced staff.

Finally, I wish you every success as you complete your Key Stage 4 studies over the next few months. Remember, hard work now will be rewarded in August!
