Welcome to the Exciting World of Mathematics
The faculty consists of motivated, dedicated and experienced mathematicians and is headed by an excellent Head of Faculty.

The aims of the faculty are to help students:

  • Realise and develop their observational, imaginative and reflective skills
  • Realise the importance of producing the best in the work they complete and obtain excellence for themselves
  • Realise the importance of sharing ideas and accept that valuable lessons can be learnt through mistakes
  • Feel secure and through this security be adventurous in developing their mathematical and social skills
  • Develop critical and questioning skills, thereby enabling a continual self appraisal of the work they do
  • Realise that mathematics goes beyond the classroom and is related to life
  • Realise that mathematics also has links with other curricular areas
  • Have tolerance, patience and respect towards all and allow all students to learn in a calm enjoyable environment
  • Develop respect and responsibility for themselves, for others and for their community environment

The Maths' Faculty achieved a good ofsted report in 2003. The SATs results for Levels 5 - 8 were 82%, GCSE grades A* to C were 63% and A level grades A to C were 84%
