Key Stage 3.

All students study one fifty minute period of History, Geography and RE at Year 7, this increases to 100 minutes in Year 8 and Year 9.  All lessons are taught in mixed ability where highly qualified staff  look to make use of creative and interactive teaching methods. Students will develop a range a skills which are unique to the Humanities subjects and there is a great deal of opportunity for ICT based work. Students are set homework once a week for each subject and there are a number of extra curricular opportunities.

Key Stage 4:

Students have the Option to study History and Geography at GCSE level, both of these subjects are taught over three fifty minute periods. History follows the SHP B syllabus and Geography the OCR B syllabus. Both subjects will combine examinations and controlled assessments. RE is compulsory for all students for one fifty minute period. All students enter the Edexcel short course option.

Key Stage 5:

The Humanities Curriculum  Area plays a large part in the life of the 6th Form. Alongside offering History and Geography there is also an opportunity for students to study Government & Politics, Law, Psychology and Sociology at AS & A2 Level. Students are encouraged by teachers to read and research widely on their subjects outside of school and engage in debate and discussion within class. In addition to this Humanities also offers a BTEC Level 2  in Travel and Tourism.
