Business & ICT Business Economics & ICT This Team is recognised as an area of strength in both the School and the Borough. It has consistently achieved results above both the National and School average, regularly exceeding A* - C rates of 85% for all their Key Stage 4 subjects. It offers a variety of academic and vocational courses at KS4 and KS5 to support the development of students within the School, as well as delivering the KS3 ICT Curriculum. The Team is based in the Hogarth Building, which was opened in January 2010. There are seven purpose built rooms designed to meet the needs of our courses. These rooms are also designed to create an effective learning environment with plenty of natural light and a climate control system. KS3 ICT A student will experience an ICT Curriculum taught and assessed through projects, designed to develop a mastery of ICT skills. Every student has access to computer each lesson, with both Office and specialist software to allow them to effectively complete the challenges set. KS4 A student can choose a vocational or an academic pathway of study in either Business or ICT. Our vocational options require students to complete in depth projects on Local, National and Multinational businesses, where their experiences and understanding is enhanced by our Business partnerships. Our academic pathways are also closely linked with industry; so that students develop an understanding of the role our subjects play in the modern workplace. KS5 A student can either continue or begin to study our subjects in the Sixth Form, where we continue to offer both vocational and academic pathways. Students are taught by specialists in their subject, with relevant industrial experience. This allows teachers to use real life examples in their teaching, to develop students' understanding and enthusiasm for our subjects. Enterprise Education The Team organises enterprise events throughout the year, in conjunction with our Business partners and specialist organisations such as Young Enterprise. Students are required to work in teams throughout the day and tackle a problem or task, before presenting their solutions or ideas. In the past students have designed and marketed their own brand of trainers, analysed the impact of the 2012 Olympics on London and planned their own investment portfolio. |
