The School Improvement Plan Summary 2009/2010

The Whole School Priorities for the coming academic year are based around the OFSTED report (Nov'08), RAISEonline (Jan'09), the JSR (Dec'08) and lesson observations completed during Borough Reviews as well as those by Senior and Middle Leaders. By narrowing down our focus we believe the aims outlined in our three year plan will be more efficiently delivered.

All Teams within the School should see the following foci as the core priorities which will guide the direction and vision for the 2009/2010 academic year:

1. Improve teaching and learning so that it is consistently good or better and raises the standards and achievement of all students.

To achieve this we will focus on the following aspects of teaching and learning:

• Using strategies to challenge the more able students
• Using plenaries effectively to consolidate and assess the learning
• Using strategies to actively engage students (with a focus on boys)

2. Ensure that data and target setting are used more consistently to enable students to make good progress in all subjects.

To achieve this we will focus on the following:

• Ensuring our knowledge of assessment criteria is sound
• Setting high expectations and challenging targets for all students
• Monitoring progress and identifying underachievement through Data Harvesting and the use of the Middle Leaders' Toolkit
